I love this song and it is so inviting Jesus to be our Lord and Teacher.
“I love the Lord Jesus look down from the sky, Be near me Lord Jesus I ask You to stay Close by me for ever, and love me, I Pray. Bless all the dear children in Your tender care, And fit us for heaven, to live with You there.”
And fit us for heaven, to live with You there.
I especially love the last line, “And fit us for heaven to live with You there.” I never really noticed it though until I had the revelation that He is doing that exact thing on the inside of us, fitting us for heaven!
When we ask Jesus to be our Lord, when we ask Him to come in our heart and live there, that is exactly what He does. He starts cleansing our heart and fitting us for heaven.
One day God said this to me. He said, “everyone wants to go to heaven when they leave here, but here and now they want nothing to do with Me, don’t have time for Me, or even agree with Me.”
God’s perception of us really opens our eyes to the truth. We can’t fit into heaven the way we are, we need cleansing. Think with me what heaven will be like. No one there would lie, hate, steal, or be self-willed. In heaven we will live by God’s Kingdom principles, no evil will live there with Him. Therefore we have to rid ourselves of evil now so we can fit into heaven.
That is what Jesus does when He comes into our hearts, He cleanses us. He said to the disciples you are cleansed and pruned already because of the Word which I gave you, the Word I have discussed with you.
John 15:3 You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you]. AMPC
The Word—His revelation knowledge is what cleanses us, makes us fit for heaven. The Word is where we start and where we end. The Word is everything, all we need to be fit for heaven.
Before I move on, there is so much more than being fit for heaven that is at stake, there is showing who God is, there is partaking in bringing in the lost sheep, there is caring about what the Father cares about and being about His quest!
You see, God not only cares about you being cleansed, but all of His children and those of us who are cleansed already are called to help cleanse by living the Word, showing the Father.
Back to where I was— the Word being all we need is validated by the Word being Him. He is His Word (John 1:1), the Word is all we need, He is our faith, our strength and He provides us the revelation to not only fit us for heaven, but to live in heaven on the earth.
Living in heaven on the earth is the plan of God. Jesus said to pray His will be done here on earth as it is in heaven. That’s a high standard to live by and the only way we can do that is with Him, by His power.
Being perfect is what He is calling us to be.
Matthew 5:48 You, therefore, must be perfect [growing into complete maturity of godliness in mind and character, having reached the proper height of virtue and integrity], as your heavenly Father is perfect. AMPC
Being perfect as He is, is a maturity thing. God is mature and He is calling us to be mature in Him. Being perfect is being free from sin because being like Him is living without sin and in love instead. We can live without sin because of the blood, Jesus made it possible.
John 14:26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
The Holy Spirit who lives inside of you will teach you all things, all you have to do is cooperate and before you know it you will live detached from sin, living like life is lived in heaven right here on the earth and fit for heaven when you leave here.
Not to mention being that light in the dark for all to see HIM!
