AS IN THE DAYS OF NOAH
Revelation 3:6 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and heed what the [Holy] Spirit says to the assemblies (churches).
The Spirit is beckoning us to listen, to take heed to His warning. Jesus’ return is soon and He Himself in the Word has warned us many times to be ready for His return by taking heed.
What is taking heed? Doing His commands, regarding what He is saying. Regarding God is being open to correction which is where the problem lies. Being corrected is not a popular thing even in the church, everyone wants to be right, making it about them, consequently - quenching the Spirit.
Jesus said when He comes it will be as the days of Noah. Right before the flood they were eating, drinking, and getting married, as if they hadn’t heard the warning. Even though Noah and his family were building a ship, even though there was news of the flood, all the animals pairing up and traveling to get on this giant boat, they paid no attention until it was too late.
I can hear them arguing about the flood now, just like it is today… “I think this, I think that, well in my opinion this, and in my opinion that… I don’t think this or that.“ It doesn’t matter what we think, what matters is what God thinks, what God said, and what God is saying.
If we honor God and forget what we think and think what He thinks then we can hear Him and take heed and be ready - and unless we do we will not know or understand until it happens, just like in the day of Noah.
Matthew 24:38 For just as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, [men] marrying and [women] being given in marriage, until the [very] day when Noah went into the ark, 39 And they did not know or understand until the flood came and swept them all away—so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
They didn’t know or understand because they didn’t take heed and it will be the same when Jesus comes. We thought we were right with Him, but that is what we thought, not what He thought. See how it comes right back to our opinion versus His opinion?
Jesus said that many are going to plead with Him saying we did this in your name and that and He will say to them I didn’t know you. So obviously many are thinking they are right with Him, and really are not.
Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me on that day [when I judge them], ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, and driven out demons in Your name, and done many miracles in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them publicly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me [you are banished from My presence], you who act wickedly [disregarding My commands].
This time, in a flash, as fast as lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. That fast He can return and if we haven’t taken heed we won’t be the ones the angels are gathering.
Matthew 24:40 At that time two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the hand mill; one will be taken and one will be left. 42 Watch therefore [give strict attention, be cautious and ACTIVE], for you do not know in what kind of a day [whether a near or remote one] your Lord is coming.
Matthew 24:27 For just as the lightning flashes from the east and shines and is seen as far as the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be. 28 Wherever there is a fallen body (a corpse), there the vultures (or eagles) will flock together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn and beat their breasts and lament in anguish, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory [in brilliancy and splendor]. 31 And He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect (His chosen ones) from the four winds, [even] from one end of the universe to the other.
