THE GOD KIND OF LOVE
1 Corinthians 13 If I [can] speak in the tongues of men and [even] of angels, but have not love (that reasoning, intentional, spiritual devotion such as is inspired by God’s love for and in us), I am only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. AMPC
If we do not love as God loves we are just a bunch of noise according to God. If God’s love is not in us, if we don’t live by His higher standards we are just a clanging cymbal in the eyes of God. That means we can say we are a Christian, but in God’s eyes we are just some noise if we don't sound like Him. If we are Christians then we should look, act, and sound like Him.
I want to share a story with you about my mom. I tell her story often because she wanted me to. She wanted others to know the reality of God’s love and how only when we love we can live with Him in heaven. Before I get started I want to give you some insight on my mom’s thinking to help you to know how your thinking can effect your eternity.
I remember growing up my mom would change her mind a lot. If she said I couldn’t go somewhere for example, I could get her to change her mind if I begged her enough. When you have that kind of experience with authority figures, you have the mindset that what they say they don’t always mean. My mom must have grown up with that same role modeling to have replayed that kind of modeling to her children.
I think some of us who have grown up with parents like my mom, that view God in a similar fashion, that He may not mean what He said. But God unlike us, when He says something He is not going to change His mind. His Words are exact, His Words are perfect, and with the purpose of Love, He isn’t going to change His mind.
Heaven is for those who want to live in His perfect atmosphere of love. Love is God’s greatest command and that can’t and won’t change. If you want to live in heaven you have to be willing to love the way God loves. God isn’t going to allow what He calls evil, anything opposed to love in heaven.
With that said I want to tell you about my mom, she was eighty-three when she was thinking she was tired and wanted to move into her heavenly mansion. She started seeking God and studying about how heaven would be and how she could get there soon. In the midst of her venturing as to how she was going to leave here, the enemy came against my mom. In short my mom ended up offended, hurt, and very angry. Then she broke her hip which caused her to have to live in a nursing home. She became very depressed, very bitter, and now more than ever, she wanted to leave and go home and be with God.
One day when she was calling out to God asking Him why she was still here He told she wasn’t ready for heaven yet, she had to love first. My mom at that point had more understanding of God than she did before. My mom learned that God meant what He said and He wasn’t going to change His mind.
My mom like many of us when her life crumbled down around her, she was hurt and angry. Now instead of her loving others, she was bitter, angry, and hard to be around. She lived in un-forgiveness, she was depressed, and she was miserable. It seems natural for us when we go through a hard time for it to be all about us, and that is where she was. She was looking for comfort but she couldn’t find what she needed until she heard God tell her to love. When she made that decision to love and to forgive God healed her of her pain which empowered her to love again. She moved her way back to that God kind of love person she was becoming before the attack, and it wasn’t long after that God took her.
Before my mom left she was an example to her family and those around her of the God kind of love, His love in her. She was happy and had a chance to say goodbye to her family and friends.
It was hard for me to let go of my mom we were very close. But just to give God the glory, just to let you know how kind, how gentle and loving God is; I want you to know how He answered my prayer of making sure my mom would go to heaven. He not only gave me a peace before she left, but a look in the spirit realm as she was on her way up. When she left her body I saw her and heard her fly by me in songs of joy as she passed me, wheeeeeeeew………………. she sang as she flew by hanging on with one hand. God is so very good, and so full of love!
