Worry Brings It On
Worry Brings It On
Philippians 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ([definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7 And God’s peace [shall be yours, that tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall garrison (defense -your place of) and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. 8 For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is , whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
Worry brings what you worry about into manifestation. If it didn’t we wouldn’t be instructed not to worry but instead ask and believe. We’re instructed to make requests of God in order to bring what we want to pass rather than what we don’t want.
Jesus said to Jairus when some messengers came from his house to tell him his daughter was already dead, only believe.
Jesus is saying the same to us today. Only believe, do not fret. We don’t have to worry but we can believe only. You can worry if you want to but you don’t have to. Therefore it is a choice. Will you worry or will you follow the instructions not to worry? If you follow those instructions then you have resolved your worry.
Instead of worry, instead of giving into anxiety we are to in everything, bring our wants to God. He even tells us to petition Him, therefore you can say, Your Word says and I am requesting that You do what You said you would do. Definite request means you can’t be double minded, but you have to have definitely made up your mind you are going to believe in Him.
I have a situation in my life I go back and forth with, of taking care of it myself or letting Him take care of it. God calls that unbelief, and so at this step, if this is you, you will have to take some time getting established in faith to eliminate the doubt in the situation you are believing God in.
How? Get the truth in your heart until you feel bold in not only petitioning it, but being definite about and refusing to change your mind. When you refuse to change your mind, then the enemy cannot talk you out of what you are asking for, then you won’t be wavering. James tells us a double minded man won’t receive anything from the Lord. We have to be defiant about our requests. Come boldly to the throne of grace.
Then we are to thank Him, be thankful in our asking. Thank Him for the promise, thank Him for doing it. Don’t be afraid of how He is going to do it. Don’t worry about how the world does things, that is earthy lot. That is what is meant by earthly lot, to be content in how God will do what He does apart from how the world does things. The worlds way is not His way, His was is higher so don’t be afraid, but learn from Him, trust Him by casting your care of it and watch His higher way come into existence in your life.
Have your talk with Him, let Him know your concerns and in that place as you discuss with Him, He will give you a knowing, a Word, or maybe even the knowing of how He is going to handle your request. He may give you direction and in that case make sure you do that direction, don’t let it slip. You can and should ask Him to help you not let it slip but to remind you of it. We have an enemy and he will try and steal any revelation we get from God.
Next, we are instructed as how to think. We have to think, believe on purpose that God is doing what we asked. If we believe then we won’t complain of it, talk about it, or focus on it. That is what the world does. They go see therapists and go over and over the problem, really making things worse, even making the issue stronger because its pondered instead of the answer. The ponder of worry makes the worry come to pass.
God’s way is to meditate the truth, what He said—to look to Him in everything and think the good of what He is doing. Think on these things, what ever is good what is of good report, whatever is true, the truth, what He said, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind, winsome and gracious. If there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
Opposed to the world’s way we are to meditate the answer not the circumstance. We have to be definite about following His instructions to make His will happen. We have to stop meditating in worry and doubt wondering if God will. If we are unsure of His will, we have to go to Him and hang on to His teaching as Jesus said so we can have a revelation knowledge that will set us free
