You know the story, the man who waited to get into the pool called Bethesda. He had been invalid for thirty-eight years waiting to get into the pool. Jesus noticed him and asked him if he wanted to be healed.
John 5:6 When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?] 7 When the invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me. 8 Jesus said to him, Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping pad) and walk! 9 Instantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his bed and walked. AMPC
God wants to talk to us today about just doing it, just picking up our mat and walking, as in doing that thing we know to do. Just as Jesus was encouraging that man, He is encouraging us today by saying just do it!
Just do that thing you know to do and stop whining about why you can't. Then that thing will happen.
Sometimes Jesus does get a little sarcastic with us, just like when Jesus said how long shall I put up with you to the disciples. Today He is saying to us today stop complaining about your circumstances and just do what you know to do. When you do that thing in which you are complaining about instead of complaining —then you will see that thing in which you are wanting. That thing you are begging Jesus for is going to happen not because you are begging, but as you do His will.
Think about it, you have the knowing of what to do, still are you complaining about the circumstances you are in? Knowing what to do is living in His Kingdom and living in His Kingdom His way —is where your blessings are available.
We know we have to forgive, yet we hold grudges (Matthew 18:22). We know we have to get faith by hearing the Word (Romans 10:17), yet we think we don't have time. We know we are to call those things that be not as though they were (Mark 11:22-24), still we wallow in our circumstances. We know what to do, yet we are not doing that thing in which we know what to do which is why we are still in that same situation/condition we were in for let's say —the last thirty eight years.
God wants us to know today, that as we wonder why things aren't happening, it is because we are not doing what we know to do. If we did what He said to do, then that thing we are believing would be happening.
So as Niki says—God is saying today, just do it! Just do that thing in which you know to do —so I can do My part.
But don't say you can't do that thing in which I said you can. For you have My strength, My grace is sufficient for you to do what I have instructed you to do( 2 Corinthians 12:9). No you can't do it on your own, but Him in you, you can do all things (Philippians 4:13)!
