Come Out From Among Them

I heard God saying this to me, “Come out from among them!”  I knew exactly what He was saying to me. He was saying stop living like the world lives.

2 Corinthians 6:17 So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor.18 And I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.

God was correcting me on something I did the day before which is contrary to His way.  His ways are higher than our way (the world’s way), He has a better way.  I know His way and that HIs way is a better way, but by not paying enough attention to Him,  I slipped off into that vicinity of the world’s way.

Do know that He wasn't scolding me so much as He was saying, Hey if you do life that way, you disconnect from Me.  If you live in agreement with the world’s way of doing then I can’t help you the way I want to.

God was saying, You can’t live in the light and the dark at the same time.  You can’t represent Me when you live like those who live without Me.  Come out from among them!

I appreciate that correction, and the instructions He gave me to change the direction in which I was headed.  Part of that instruction was giving Him the attention I usually do (enough time) so I don’t slip again.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership have right living and right standing with God with iniquity and lawlessness? Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?

Did you know that living among unbelievers being friends with them will rub off on you?  It will because being around those who compromise becomes familiar to you and familiarity  becomes second nature.

Fellowshipping with the dark is allowing the dark to come on you.

Fellowshipping instead with God, with those in the light will remind you of the light in you, and allow that light to shine through you.  Being in fellowship with God will keep you full of Him and living by His standards, rather than that of the world.

Anything you give your attention to will be what you are full of.  Jesus said out of the overflow of your heart, your mouth will speak (Luke 5:45).  Of course then what you speak is what you believe, and what you believe has to do with who you are yoked with, which is what your heart is full of.

If we don't spend enough time fellowshipping with God, we come out from among God, rather than coming out from among the darkness, rather than coming out from among unbelief.

Satan's intent is to overtake you in the darkness.  Run you through the mill to weaken you in your faith. Whatever way he can find to do that, he will.  He will tell you all kinds of lies to steal God from you.

Thus wherever there is darkness, wherever there is compromise, doubt, unbelief, no faith, leave that place. Come out from among that place!

Come out from among them, so that you can live the good life God ordained for you, so you can prove that His will is good and perfect for you and be that light for Him.

So that you can do that greater work He called you to, so that He can be your God and you can be His people!

Does that mean you might have to eliminate some friends?  Maybe so?  If you have someone you call a friend and that someone speaks against your God, do you really want to be friends with that one?

I had what I thought were friends who tried to tell me God would not heal me.  Do I need to come out from among those?  Yes, I do, I did, because that person was telling a lie against God.  If I would stay in fellowship with that person, then soon enough I would be opposed to God as that person is.

2 Corinthians 6:15 What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?

We can’t be in agreement with anything or anyone who isn’t in agreement with God.  Their god is an idol, a temporary fix to their need.  Our God is our God Whom with all things are possible and eternal.  There can be no other god before Him, for He is all we need.

2 Corinthians 6:16 What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
