1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth].
Pursuing love is the most valuable thing we can pursue, and in pursuing love, we are pursuing God, who never fails or comes to an end. God (love), pursuing His ways of love will never end. That means loving, conforming to His character and His way of doing, will never end and will bring us to eternal life. Everything else will come to an end, but God won’t, love won’t, because Love/God is eternal.
Jesus came as Love, as representing God, showing us the importance of honoring God’s law of love. He said the most important thing to do is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind. What that means is to honor God, care about what He cares about. Make what is important to Him, important to you. Because He is God and His love is so powerful as to change our innermost being, we will honor Him as to obey Him in everything He requires of us.
God is in love with us. His mind is on us all the time, so it makes sense that His law to love others would be the second most important thing to Him. If we love God, then we will understand the importance of loving others, and it will be our pursuit to keep His command. God’s laws are love and will always lead us to eternity
